Basic computer education is compulsory for each and every trainee .Well trained faculties are appointed to conduct Spoken English and Personality development classes within the time
The students are given adequate training for acquiring sufficient
knowledge on Spoken English by experts
The students are provided training sessions for developing their
communication skills and personality.
The college provides separate Hostel Accommodation for itsstudents (Boys and Girls).Doctor -On-Call facility is also available in the hostel premises. However, hostel accommodation is subject to the availability of seats.
Dr Anita Baruah Sarmah College of Education is a Teachers'
Training College, established in the year 2004.The College was established
earlier by NERIM Educational Society in the name and style of 'NERIM
Teachers' Training College'. However, the name of the college was
changed to Dr Anita Baruah Sarmah College of Education in the year
2006 after the premature demise of Dr Anita Baruah Sarmah, one of
the chief founders of NERIM Educational Society. Accordingly,on the
recommendation of the governing body of the college the change of
name was approved by Gauhati University, theaffiliating body, through
its Executive Council Resolution No.2006/2/29/20 dated 21-01-2006.Further,
National Council for Teacher Education also accorded its approval
for changing the name of the college from 'NERIM Teachers' Training
College' to 'Dr Anita Baruah Sarmah College of Education' vide its
letter No.ERC/66.12.8/2006/1998.
Dr Anita Baruah Sarmahwho was a professor and a scholar
of repute started her career as a lecturer in the Department of English,
Gauhati University for 22 years under several esteemed designations.Dr
Anita Baruah Sarmahwas associated with NERIM Educational Society since
its inception and was its philosopher and guide throughout its growth
and development. For a short span of time, she remained as the President
of NERIM Educational Society.Dr. Anita Baruah Sarmah cherished a dream
of setting up an institute of excellence in the field of Education.She
treasured a vision of providing quality training to the teachers who
are torch-bearers of our younger generation and thereby develop human
resource in an appropriate direction.
The idea of setting up a College of Education by NERIM Educational
Society was initiated by Dr Anita Baruah Sarmah. The proposal for
obtaining necessary statutory recognition from NCTE, Government of
India was moved as per her advice in the month of December,2003. Hence,
in order to perpetuate the memory of Dr Anita Baruah Sarmah and to
fulfill her dreams 'NERIM Teachers Training College' has been dedicated
to the people of Assam as-

Dr Anita Baruah Sarmah College of Education has a library enriched with around 4000 titles of books on the subjects related to Philosophical and Sociological Foundations of Education, Psychological Foundations of Education, Issues and Problems of Secondary Education, School Organization and School Hygiene, Contents and Methods of Teaching (English,History, Assamese, Mathematics, and Social Science) Educational Technology, Research Journal of Planning and Administration,University News, Journal on School Education Technology, Journal of Traditional Research, Journal of Human values, Etc. Besides this, the Institute's Library provides an opportunity to the students to keep abreast with the current News and Information by subscribing to a number of important Local and National newspapers and magazines. A quiet and spacious reading and learning atmosphere has been created in the library so as to encourage regular reading habits among the students.
