Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world. It is a process of acquiring knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits. Education helps us to realize our self and prepares us to meet new challenges too. In the process of education, teacher education is a programme that is related to the development of teacher proficiency and competence that would enable and empower the teacher to meet the requirements of the profession and face the challenges therein.
Now, the term used as teacher education instead of teacher training.W.H. Kilpatrick opined that training is given to animals and circus performers, while education is to human being. So, in the broad sense, teacher education encompasses teaching skills + pedagogical theory + professional skills. In the light of these objectives the statutory body NCTE proposed new guide lines and prepared NCFTE 2009 so that the teacher can play their significant role in the process of man making and nation building.
Dr. Anita Baruah Sarmah College of Education has been offering B Ed from 2004 and MA from 2016 very effectively.
